  1. 3rd base ump was clearly the one guy that didn't bet for the Orioles lmao.
  2. Lol I only tried skating once and I was awful at it. Though to my defense I grew up in a country where snow is only seen in the movies and you only get ice from your fridge.
  3. In 2013 he pitched more to righties than lefties, and struck out more, walked less, had a much higher BABIP (.342 vs .238), and had a better xFIP
  4. Can this myth please stop? He's been just as effective vs RHH.
  5. Do you live in Toronto? Where I live hockey is still the #1 sport as expected but there are enough people that are interested in baseball to make up a good team. I think our team went to the semi-finals last year.
  6. For my cutter I hold the middle finger and index in basically the same position as a 4-seam, but I place the right ring finger (I don't know what it's called lol) on the right side of the ball and the thumb a bit lower on the left; terrible description I know but I actually get rather fantastic movement on it so I guess it works. For some reason I just can't pull the ball with ease, I once hit a really nice double to LF-CF but that's pretty much my highlight for going to my side, I've gotten homers and even triples hitting oppo, very odd. You would think I would get blown by all the time but that isn't the case, it might have something to do with how I twist my hips. I'm also incredibly patient and have a great eye, and I won't lie when I say that reading the board has probably influenced me a bit in that. I have no idea when it comes to cleats, I use plastic like a noob even though I probably should have gotten metal from the beginning. I use a pretty heavy bat in comparison to what most use, I usually hit for good contact but I want to try and hit for a bit more power this year without uppercutting of course. Do you have a specific batting stance/pitching delivery. I've changed stances like 3 times in the last 3 years, at one point I even sort of imitated Bautista's without the massive leg kick. If I want to become successful as a pitcher though I'm definitely going to need to develop a strong and consistent delivery.
  7. Wow Bautista, if you jump at least commit to it, can't be caught halfway.
  8. You seem to be very quiet in all of this, do you play?
  9. Is the highlighted part school team? My school only has varsity for baseball. I would love to try pitcher, I have a pretty live arm, I developed my own cutter and definitely need to work on my offspeed. Last time I played I was a catcher/1B (people our height are often discriminated to play at first due to other people usually overthrowing the bag), I loved playing catcher, it's like you have full control of what is going on in the game. I used to have power but for some reason started hitting more groundballs than I wanted (Brett Lawrie is that you?), I go opposite field ALL THE TIME, I don't know if it's a problem with timing or I just have a natural ability to hit the other way (I'm a righty). I am literally in the midst of baseball tryouts (though I'm basically a lock to make the team since I have before), I hadn't played in like a year and a half, and it feels awesome! I struggled pretty badly catching the first time after such a long time but yesterday I was much better which settled my worries a lot.
  10. If I had to describe my game you could think of a mix of Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan (if you look past the ridiculous athleticism), I play good post D, blocks for days, have decent pretty decent handles, pass really well; my offense relies on being tough down low, and though I think it can be improved I am extremely inconsistent on FT's (which sucks 'cause I get fouled a fair bit). I also have decent speed so I can run fastbreaks on both sides well. Now regarding baseball, what position(s) do you play?
  11. Holy f*** the home plate ump managed to screw us again by stepping in front of the camera!! Are you f***ing serious?
  12. I'm in Grade 11, I've always played center, being one of the tallest people in the grade usually, I'm like 6'3 or 6'4 so I'm not sure if I might have to play a different position next year. I play a bigman's game, I take pride in my defense and rebounding more than what I can do on offense (mostly layups, I rarely ever shoot).
  13. I have to agree with some because I also used to love reading John Havok's daily minor league recap on the old board, but lost interest once they were moved to the new subforum. One new thread a day won't clutter the main page and is also a good way to talk up young guys before the draft that some like me aren't aware of.
  14. I don't play on a team unless school counts, I was however on a legit team for baseball for about a year and a half before I moved. And to King, I recently arrived so technically I don't have marks, but my first test was 93 (blah, I could've done better) and the next quiz was 100, I was very proud because everyone else in the class were kind of pissed that I was the only one to have done so.
  15. Before I reply, it's a Goins thread, it doesn't really desere any meaningful baseball conversation. I would qualify that as good grades IMO, though to really be a "nerd" (as we all are apparently) Math has to be one of your better subjects And I also play baseball and basketball! Good crowd I'm in I guess.
  16. I'm I the only one who gets good grades and also plays sports? I'm basically cool with anyone lol.
  17. Obviously caught the arm! Gibby?? Edit: weird slide, looked safe by a bit.
