Being drafted at the end of round 7 pretty much sucks for anyone.

Good for Sam. Would have probably been better for his career to go undrafted at that point though so he could pick a team of his choosing.

Pretty much. He was a max effort type of guy who played above his talent level.

Sam was a tweener who showed at the combine that he wasn't athletic enough to play without his hand on the ground.
