Jerry Howarth names Reyes as player of the game and gives him credit for turning some nice double plays the past few nights. Wonder if SNET made him say that.
I have no issue sending Sanchez out for the 9th tonight, he was only at 90 pitches and he was cruising the whole game. Would have preferred to save Osuna's arm for tomorrow I agree, but I can see why Gibby used him.
I hope when Saunders gets healthy we can still keep Collabello's bat in the lineup. Maybe the odd LF start and platoon at 1b with Smoak. This guy has been mashing and has been outstanding with RISP.
Give us one top of the rotation SP and one good lefty BP arm and this team is poised to make a playoff run. Our lineup is so f***ing good, even with an influx of injuries. Navarro, Valencia, Collabello are some great bats to have off the bench too.
Lol 20+ years of frustration has caught up to old man Jerry just like lots of people around here. Not everything Jerry said was untrue but alot of his comments were distasteful and extremely unprofessional, particularly the remarks about Reyes smiling too much and treating professional baseball the same as a game of street ball. Given Jerry's platform he has tremendous influence. Reyes has played 25 games this year and he's been the whipping boy all week for the team's struggles. Glad to see him stand up for himself. I wonder if Jerry will say hi to him before tomorrow night's game.
Beuhrle was phenominal. Weak hit ground balls all night long. He even got a hit, layed a sacrificed bunt, flashed some leather on the field and broke up a DP with a slide into second.
