  1. If you don't think there is a justification for holding back an uber prospect to hone in his defense, then you don't know baseball. We've seen this plenty of times in the history of the game. Its not even that hard to justify. You could bring up someone to (presumably mash) as a 1B/DH, or you could try to develop him as a passable 3B and have a monster on your hands.
  2. defense is a thing as well tho. I'm not arguing its the right course, but it certainly could be justified.
  3. This is fun to think about. He's not a finished product, so the team would be justified keeping him in the AA most of the season, starting him in AAA next year and calling him up mid-year. The team doesn't want to 'waste' controllable years while he is developing. Offering a guaranteed deal of some magnitude is a risk to the MLB club in terms of potential career derailing injury. I don't think you are far off with what an extension would have to look like, with multiple option years. I don't know about the dollars, but its fun to think about. The motivation is also interesting to think about. Like you say, he could be swayed by the opportunity to debut a year and a half quicker.
  4. can't argue with the numbers. Its science
  5. not to mention his numbers have IMPROVED each level he's been promoted so far! If these trends continue...
  6. Rematch of last years final this week. Hope my boys are out of there little weekened slump that gifted hurl 3 cats. Man did neither of our teams want to put to boot down near the end of last week, but he had a great Sunday while I... didn't On another note, I'm interested in acquiring a 2B OTF with Dee moving off 2B (damn M's). If anyone is selling a good one, let me know.
  7. This match between Hurl and I is fun to watch at the end. My team has sucked enough today to bring Hits, RBI, OBP, and maaaaaaybe SLG back into play. Keeps changing AB to AB lol
  8. I guess I should have started Kingham...
  9. Can we just stop pretending Joe Biagini is a starter? Time to see if he can recapture some of that RP magic.
  10. Even if you think he is a league average bat that has some thump... we'll still have thump off the bench in either Hernandez or Grichuk. I just makes no sense having a 1B (DH honestly) on the bench.
  11. board wager offered?
  12. I'm 6'4" and apparently the range of 'normal' weights by BMI is 156 - 205. I can not imagine my body at 156 lbs. Looks like 160 is right in the range for someone at 6'1". Clearly its not for high level athletes in any situation... but f*** bmi lol
  13. also, the umps are still important for a variety of other things like calling foul tips, HBP, fouls in the batters box, check swings, out-safe at the plate, etc, etc. Nothing at all will change here. The umps will wear ear-pieces and that's about it in my estimation.
  14. lol, that's pretty hilarious. Reported 2018 so its not some old ranking.
  15. Honestly didn't expect the Jays to come out of the gate this strong. I did maintain that they had a shot this year if we stayed relatively healthy, but we've been playing some good baseball even with JD hurt. I really underestimated the value of good depth. I guess when you spend years watching Goins and Barney bat when someone is hurt or has an off day, you forget how nice it is to see a bat come off the bench with a shot at hitting. There will be tougher days to come for sure, but its been fun baseball to watch so far!
  16. I've got A shortstop for trade (Nunez)...
  17. That would be a fun column to add actually, a division column so you can get a sense of where the divisions stack up.
  18. I'm a big Travis supporter, but if he has options, he's the guy who has to go down. Just till he finds his way at the plate. Put JD at 3B (presuming he can throw) and Solarte at 2B. Diaz at SS with Guerriel there to back up, whoever plays better sticks on the roster when Tulo comes back (we all know he will get his shot to play when/if he is healthy).
  19. I think your 'elite' pitching is more to blame lol
  20. I think the Nats will be fine. Its a tough thing to be without Eaton, Murphy, and Rendon
  21. these are funner to look at this year
