    You need to acquire 2 because we don't have anyone worthy of the top half of the rotation. We all hope Pearson is, but you can't bank on it, and you can't bank it for next year. I think the FO needs to show some real positive progress to keep their jobs. There are guys on the market this year that could be legit #2 options and don't appear to command crazy stupid contracts (in term). That's pretty favorable for the Jays.

    at the least it gives you a punchers chance. Risk in both those guys, but also really good upside.

    It'll be interesting to see what Wheeler gets for years. Guy has been durable enough for the last few years, but I think he's got the 'fragile' reputation that might quash some of the years. I do like him.

    It will all come down to years for Ryu. If his durability scares teams off 4+ year offers he's exactly the type of dart-throw we need if we aren't going to go buy a legit ace or #2. It clear that the rotation needs guys for the top, not the bottom, and Ryu at least has a shot at being that. Then you hope guys like Pearson and Kay can come up and contribute well when needed.

    I don't think this necessarily sets the tone for anything just yet. Might end up being what we see, but one low risk move doesn't mean that will be the overall theme.

    Ryu obviously gets (correctly) penalized for lack of durability, but that seems like a hell of a deal.

    This will be interesting for sure as I think you will have a tough time proving manipulation. We all know it when we see it, but what is the actual standard What qualifies as 'being ready'? Vlad and Bryant both destroyed the minors before getting called up. Bryant put up 6 WAR that year, Vlad .4 When is too close to the deadline for an extra year of service? It was 12 days for Bryant, is 20 days to close? Is 25 days? This could just move the goalpost. I think this will be more difficult to legislate than most give it credit for.

    Won my redraft league today that's kept slipping through my fingers the past several years. Feels amazing, and makes me realize how f'n sweet it would (WILL) feel to win the DDL.

    So I was thinking about the two sets of draft picks conundrum we have. Would an easy(ish) solution be to assign a set of rounds to the MiLB draft, and a set of rounds to the Waiver draft? Something like rounds 1-5 is the MiLB draft and 6-10 is the Waiver draft? Yes I did cheat us out of a round of MiLB picks in this example, but that would be to make the numbers nice and simple when picks became static numbers rather than round-pick style. Pick 1-100 are MiLB choices, picks 101-200 are Waiver.

    oh yeah, its not like that in ESPN. Add this to the pro column for Fantrax then. (still not an official endorsement) fwiw, if all we're tracking on the sheet going forward is waiver picks, it really wouldn't be a big deal... unless your name is Hurl.

    why do ppl hate same day transactions again? I'm sure this has been explained to me, but I can never remember. It works great in my ESPN league. Wasn't it some sort of dumb Yahoo thing that made it not work well?
