  1. This is the 3rd time that's happened in this organization. Graveman, Stroman and Norris..
  2. I guess you can look at it that way, considering where he came from. But I truly believe that his cutter/sinker were legit pitches going forward to the point that he could be a starter than a BP guy. Over here he would never get a chance to start.
  3. fap fact: Norris leads all MLB pitchers this spring with 21 K's from Smith
  4. I think we sold on him low, but we got Donaldson and we have better pitchers with stuff in the organization than this guy, so no regrets
  5. We got ourselves our very own Kershaw
  6. He chose rehab last year, right?
  7. Yeah I'm going to miss him. He's that type of vetrin presents that you want on your club, especially since he can still contribute unlike Vizquel. Hopefully he'll instill these values in Stroman to carry the torch. I have no faith in Dickey being this outspoken and forward.
  8. Someone should browse that Oriole board. Pretty sure they'd post on there.
  9. It's either here, the old mlb forums or Stoeten's comments section
  10. I don't understand how you like Mexicans and hate Cubans. You're all the same!
  11. No one is giving up on him..I just think his stock has fallen. But it's not because Sanchez has pitched terribly - it's the opposite. The other prospects on this team have shown a lot more development and stuff to the point that Sanchez is no longer untouchable. I'm a lot more excited about the Mexican and the Castro because they both have shown excellent stuff and control. Sanchez has good stuff. But it's not sexy. He has a high 90s fastball just like Castro and the Mexican, but unlike those two, Sanchez' stuff doesn't generate enough swinging strikes. And to make matters worse, Sanchez hasn't exactly improved on his control and command. A lack of control and command and stuff to K people out isn't encouraging. Swinging strikes are not the be-all-end-all, but they are extremely helpful for a pitcher that can generate the K when needed. And they are especially important for relievers, who are often brought in for situations where a hold is required. Sanchez needs more development of his off-speed pitches and control. The great thing is he's still young, so there is more than enough time for him to develop. But sticking him in the bullpen reduces the necessary reps and experiences that can help him if he were in the Buffalo rotation.
  12. Uribe's defense is a given. He's pretty good. Offensively, though? For the majority of his career he's been putrid, below replacement level. Somehow, in the past two seasons he's hit extremely well. Last season his babip was up over .360. I'm not sure if Uribe is someone you can gamble with a Headley like contract at his age.
  13. This is a good long-term sign by the Dodgers. Both Kendrick and Rollins will be FA. Guerrero doesn't look like he's going to be a starter and is questionable on defense. Uribe is Uribe.
  14. I still enjoying reading the first 5 pages of this thread
  15. A.J. Preller. He's the same guy that did some shady things with the Rangers, and did some shady things with the Kemp deal. Now continuing his shady ways with Olivera.
  16. I think Phillips is still jelly about Votto getting paid
  17. Phillips taking pot shots at Votto http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/03/23/cincinnati-reds-joey-votto-brandon-phillips-on-base-percentage-rbi/70337854/ Votto, you don't deserve to be on the Reds
  18. I cannot remember the source but I believe it has to do with some wierd # of days calculation. Basically service time is based on a certain number of days, like 170 games. But there are +180 games (including post season) So calling him up after those 9 days means the first year isn't included or something along those lines.
  19. AFAIK it's a service time thing? Withholding a player for 9 days or so will add an extra year of control.
  20. I think we should delay Castro for 9 days to save that extra year
  21. Why is Hendriks guaranteed a job? I'd just expose him. Estrada can be the mop-up guy, as well as Redmond (but he may be the 7th inning guy) Having a bullpen consisting of both Hendriks and Estrada will result in many blown leads...
  22. why you using ribbies?!
  23. I just like how he keeps going back to the "we play harder than others" mantra "D’backs will be better than critics are claiming, citing positional and starting depth and a credo to play hard and fundamentally well."
  24. More derp from Stewart http://nypost.com/2015/03/23/are-dbacks-in-denial-about-68-5m-phenom-or-are-harsh-scouts-wrong/
  25. Devo won't be able to make that play
