It's sad to see people clawing and fighting to find some redeeming qualities in AA, only to fail and decide to blame Beeston.

Holy s***, I used to work under a Greek guy and this description fits him to a T. Didn't realize that they are all like that.

Who's down on him? The argument is that he isn't a top 5 GM because he hasn't really accomplished anything yet. Plenty of people believe he'll be a great GM.

Dunno if I've ever seen a GM do such a 180, which says a lot about his character. Maybe a guy who was introduced to advanced stats a bit later and took to them instead of just laughing them off (like a certain Greek individual.) Takes a lot of courage to make a dramatic change like that.

Not sure if Huntington had anything to do with that, though. Likely he didn't. Burnett had a 3 WAR year and then a 4 WAR year as a pirate, not a one year thing and I see no reason why he'd fall off a cliff. Liriano didn't have a fluky season by any stretch, and even his projections have him at about league average (conservative IMO.) I know he was the guy to s*** on before, but you can't ignore the moves he's made that we all loved. Liriano was a clear buy-low (decent peripherals), Burnett was a buy low (based on his xFIP in 2011, Huntington picked up a buy low player who fit into his home park perfectly), Russell Martin and his underrated D and framing. It's like he became a different man.

Yeah, he's a guy I think will be good, but he hasn't done f*** all yet to garner any praise.

I would go: 1. Friedman 2. Mozeliak 3. Beane 4. Hoyer 5. Huntington 6. Daniels - - - - 48. Ed Wade 105. Ruben Amaro

I'd probably have Hoyer or (surprisingly) Huntington over Daniels...his moves lately haven't been top 5 calibre, though I still regard him as a much, MUCH better GM than AA. Huntington's moves over the past couple of years have been nothing short of incredible.

Yeah, I don't want to s*** on the mods with a snarky comment, but there's no way that that guy deserves a clean slate. Should have shut Zee down right away, hope they don't repeat that mistake.

What we know about AA: - He evaluates everyone, including established Major League players based on a 2-8 subjective scouting scale which, in the case of a player he is interested in, is established over the course of an incredibly small sample size. - Does not like using a computer. - Surrounds himself with old school idiots (not idiots BECAUSE they are old school, per se.) - Does not understand the concept of adding wins (as evidenced by his tunnel vision with pitching.) - Does not understand the failure rate of high school pitchers, as evidenced by the fact that he keeps f***ing taking them in the draft. - Has a guy with a biology degree leading his stats department. - Created a FO culture that is resistant and hostile towards statistical evaluation. Not sure if I missed anything. I think a lot of people want to blame Beeston (who is also an idiot) for AA's many shortcomings, but the truth is that he owns the vast majority of his decisions. The only things he does particularly well are contract negotiations and the fact that he isn't a loudmouth like JPR or Amaro.

Daniels (after this offseason) Ryan (but did just dump Doumit) Dombrowski Cashman All four of these I would strongly disagree with, and Dipoto is really a victim of circumstance since Arte Moreno continues to assert his dumn influence. How can you possibly say Dombrowski is worse than AA? Nothing he's done has indicated that. I think AA is on a similar tier as Dayton Moore.

It's not even about IP checks, his posts have several trademarks. Double dashes, constant use of the word "remember" and blatant Jays homerism to the point of absurdity. Digiblader is still banned (I checked) so he's clearly been deemed an undesirable but here he is again, posting and all of the mods are just ignoring it. Several posters have been pointing it out, too. What's the point of a permaban if it's so easily sidestepped? I know the IP checks aren't foolproof. I shared an IP with Mohyou a little while ago and it was terrifying. It's a good thing I've met a few guys here or I'd probably be considered to be a dogg/zee alias.

You know, it's really funny (and telling) that you ban NJH at the drop of a hat, but guys who have already been permabanned on their first account are free to post and be idiots all they want. When you guys are banning a guy who is on your payroll(figuratively) and not high85, you need to reassess your priorities.

I agree despite my joke about Nick's ban. How is that any different from the old forum? Here, any number of trolls we tried to get away from are given free reign to post whatever they want but don't be mean or antagonize the mods! Giving a ban to, statistically, the board's favourite poster and second most popular blogger over something so goddamn trivial is bloody pathetic. I guess we can start preparing for the eventual ban on Spanky. If the board is going to turn into this nonsensical, hard-assed place I will just stop posting here and find a board where the mods don't have broomsticks up their asses.
