From 2008-2013, TB had the highest position player WAR in all of baseball. Pitching was average-slightly above. Another myth about the Rays that never seems to go away. E: actually, you can change that to just "since 2008" since it still applies currently. Around 10 WAR ahead of the Red Sox. Good hitting, great defense and excellent baserunning.

Pretty much, though Dusty Baker's opinions on hitting would drive me crazy. I'd rather have Gibbons than any of those guys but the results wouldn't be much different at the end of the day.

He made a pretty questionable move. I agree with you on CC/Navarro but I doubt there's much of a tangible difference between those two options. Not his best moment but managers make really bad decisions all the time. Not a like this is strictly a Gibbons problem.
