That's virtually as low-risk as it gets. Hopefully he can stay healthy and put up a season resembling his 2016 season - paying $1M per fWAR would be insane value. If Shoemaker provides any value at all, it's basically surplus. There's a lot to like about this.

I'm glad to see that this episode has sparked a nice little discussion, at least. It's far from our best work, but we feel that it's mostly because there weren't a lot of interesting topics to work with. We also missed Andrew's usual topnotch contributions to the show. That being said, we stand by our work and I'm still proud of this one, as I am of our past releases. For what it's worth, we had an internal debate about whether we would just scrap the entirety, or shelve the majority of, this episode. We would've likely kept the segment about wOBA for a future episode, but we obviously decided to release this one in its entirety.

It's z-score rankings. It ignores weekly matchups and essentially provides roto rankings; aka it's purely stat-based. This indicates how well teams have actually performed to date. The first column is skaters, the second is goalies, the third is the total of columns 1 and 2, the fourth is your overall rank in the league for skaters, the fifth is the rank for goalies, and the sixth column is your overall stats-based rank.
