    I don't know man, Eric Thames scares me on a guaranteed deal even if the money is low. What are his splits, can he hit lefties now? If one of EE or Jose sign will he play 1B or DH? I certainly don't want to see him in the OF again. I think the power was always there with him but he had no discipline. Btw it's his 30th Birthday today so Happy B-day Eric!

    You get paid as long as possible. It's unlikely he had interest from any team that's looking to be highly competitive and the Braves probably gave him a really fair deal.

    A's will sign this guy to be their full time third baseman.

    He makes a lot of sense for them, can still easily give them 200 IP and probably provide some positive value. The Braves are going to turn him into some prospects at some point when another NL team is looking for pitching.

    5/125 is exactly what I expected on the FA market. I'm sure teams will want the 5th year as an option but someone will give him a guaranteed 5th year.

    The guy has been injured the past two seasons and played through that, you can't realistically expect that to continue. They really could use a bench guy other than Barney that could at least adequately play multiple positions and not completely suck at hitting. Coghlan being a Left-handed bat is another plus.
