  1. Link at the top. I wish I knew if it was successful. Our members went up by four since the first tweet to @bluejays went out but that could be fluke. @BlueJaysBoard is our feed. Once the draft thread gets going better I'll use it as a recruiting tool.
  2. "and many of them are off the board here" This scares me a lot.
  3. Van Slyke is only 26. 23 for 76 with a .300 BABIP. so .292. He has a history as a good Line Drive hitter so I expect a solid BABIP from him. He's an okay ball player and he should get his opportunity this year to be in the bigs. People should just temper their expectations, a la Randy Ruiz
  4. listening to the Dunedin game right now. Not a mention of Jimenez. Maybe when the catcher comes to plate we'll get something.
  5. Negrych is 49th in the minors in OBP. Of the names ahead of him Buxton (19) is a legitimate prospect, as are Sano, Franklin, Rendon and Garin Cecchini. Former major leaguers that are ahead of him are Brian Bogusevic, Tim Federowicz, Ruben Rivera, Scott Van Slyke, Brandon Snyder, Zach Cox, and DJ LeMahieu. What Negrych is doing is impressive but it's still a small sample size and when you consider the .264/.357/.391 number he put up in AAA last year (which is close to his career numbers in the minors) he's not going be more than an injury backup. 30 years of watching ball is what tells me that.
  6. I'll take JPA slider/Change up pitcher from the left side. Although I'm thinking no HR's this game.

Dubnyk could work his way into the conversation with a great start to the season. It's certainly not the usual debate though.
  8. actually i can read his mock http://sbb.scout.com/2/1289798.html Pick 10 CF Austin MeadowsGrayson HS (GA) Click for more details [+] ANALYSIS: The Jays would like to get McGuire here but he goes right in front of them in this scenario. With their huge scouting staff, Toronto seems to get tied to more players than most teams and many of them are off the board here but this makes sense as the spot for Meadows. It may seem like a slider given the 1-1 hype coming into the spring, but I never bought Meadows as that kind of talent and after all the conversations I had this week, the industry seems to agree. It only takes one team to pick him higher than this, but more than one scouting director said this week they could see Meadows making it to the Pirates second pick at 14, which is likely his floor. Toronto likes to go best player available and collect as much talent as possible and Meadows fits the bill at #10.
  9. Kiley McDaniel on Scout's draft chat. Haven't read it yet. I let my Scout.com account expire when Frankie P left so I can't see his Mock. I really like Kiley though. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1289799.html one of the interesting ones. I often wonder when people are downgrading someone's D so much. We all remember what happened with Lawrie. I watched Moran play last Saturday but didn't see enough of him at D and actually missed two of his AB's playing poker. Comment From Ari Can you explain to me the appeal of Colin Moran? He has to hit like hell to make up for his ceiling defensively as a below-average defensive 3B, possibly a guy who moves to first. Am I underrating his defense or is his bat really that special? 1:28 Kiley McDaniel: Underrating defense. Check out my video from last month (http://sbb.scout.com/2/1279540.html) and tell me he looks below average defensively. I graded him out as average to slightly above with fringy to average power (15+ HR annually) and a chance to hit .280 with walks. Go check how many MLB 3B are better than that and let me know.
  10. We just have to think back to the BJ board 3 or 4 years ago. When there were less troll threads. You used to be able to beat them by making the topic legitimately about baseball. Throw stats at them, that usually conifuses them. Add in that if they don't talk about baseball, they can get banned. Report away when you think someone is a troll but try not to give them what they want which is attention. The mods are running IP reports every single day so we know who the duplicate accounts are and have banned a few accounts already and issued several warnings. No board will be perfect but this one is as much better and is active.
  11. especially today. With the new Twitter account I'll be hammering the GDT all over twitter to promote the board. Lets keep it at one GDT
  12. He's not going to fool anyone if he keeps the ball down in the zone and in the park he can be quite effective. He doesn't walk guys, is very hittable. Currently in Buffalo he's getting BABIP'd (.369) to his numbers. In the past 3 years he's only gone into the 7th inning 4 times.
  13. I hope we see him the dome again...at his number honouring ceremony.
  14. I'm trying to embed Tweets but I guess I am just the old guy that doesn't understand this internetz stuff. Halladay will have surgery to clean up labrum/bone spurs. If surgery reveals same, has good chance to pitch this yr
  15. Maybe a rule change is in order but for now I don't agree that the players doing what they are taught to do is wrong. In the McCarthy incident last year his own team continued to make the play at 1B. On the Cameron's broken jaw the umpire called time giving the Brewers a run to allow the training staff to get out to CF.
  16. Not true at all. In other sports (except Football) the officials have the ability to stop the play. If the Rays stopped running the ump still wouldn't have called time until the ball came into the infield. Think back to the Buck Martinez broken leg, does anyone talk about how Gorman Thomas should have stopped running. Buck even knew it and tried to throw him out at 3rd. Was Gorman Thomas the biggest douchebag ever?
  17. But on the other hand, sometimes a douchebag is more entertaining than anyone else.

Way too early to talk about but it's fun anyway...is there a goalie Canada can be confident having in net for the Olympics?
  19. He's still the guy that started the year .138/.212/.207 through the first 11 games. I'm not sold he's turned the corner. I really would hope that he's realized that he needs to be patient to be effective though.
  20. Jenkins had right shoulder inflammation during spring training. I thought it wasn't supposed to have him miss any time but he missed the first month. Had his first start on Monday. With the positive updates on Happ's health it's looking a little more like it's spot starts rather than a big time solution. I expected AA to pick up Zach Clark anyway. Now I'm sure he will. Chances are one of the vets gets added to the 40 man and cut Todd Redmond (who'd be the perfect guy to make the start if he was healthy)
