  1. I’ve only been watching baseball since April this year but this guy today has made several bad calls for both teams. I’ve not seen errors like this before.
  2. Is it likely he will sign for next season and beyond?
  3. I have never seen an umpire get so many calls wrong before.
  4. Great support again from the Blue Jays. It seems that they take thousands to any cities nearish to Canada. When I’ve seen other games, I’ve never seen huge visiting numbers from other teams.
  5. Why? I’m watching this with some friends in England who have never been bothered with baseball but are enjoying this game. It is one of the more exiting games to watch. Blue Jays will win this.
  6. I watched my first Blue Jays game in April after visiting from England ( Sheffield) I fell in love with baseball and have followed the Blue Jays since and watch games when I can on the MLB channel. The time difference can make that difficult though. As a novice to Baseball, my answers are 1) Yankees and Detroit for me 2) I really like Danny Jansen 3) The prices are astronomical in the stadium. As has been said eat outside, some great hot dog stands outside the Rogers centre. 4) You can buy an official Blue Jays cap off eBay ( as cheap as I saw in Cananda) There is a shop in the Eaton centre which sells official Blue Jays merchandise and an outlet at the stadium. When in Canada I bought a Blue Jays shirt from the shop for myself and my eldest son got a cap and t shirt from the shop in the Eaton centre. I bought a cap off eBay in the U.K. and an official MLB Blue Jays baseball. Enjoy your trip.
  7. It is technically classed as one. One of the games greatest players was Canadian ( John Part ) Out of interest how well known is John Part in Canada?
  8. I don’t know about that. Have you ever watched darts before?
  9. I’ve got to ask this, but why was Kirk put on 2nd base in the 10th innings? What is the logic behind that?
  10. Of all the comms teams. Detroit are without doubt the most biased and bitter. They commented on it being Detroits biggest crowd over 3 games ( over 90,000) for a few years, clearly this was due to the large number of Blue Jay fans in the crowd and whilst they acknowledged it, they seemed to me to do it begrudgingly. When I was in Toronto in April I went to one of the games against Detroit ( lost 3-1) and there was barely anyone in the crowd from Detroit.
  11. Well I’ve got to say that when I started this thread, I didn’t expect it to turn into an anti monarchy thread. I guess you live and learn. 🙂
  12. Just think of the great crowd chants you could pick up. Granted many are obscene but good none the less 🙂
  13. Your first statement is exactly the reason why the Blue Jays would be very popular in the U.K. MLB is the third most watched sports league in the world (NFL number 2 and English premier league number 1)yet it is limited to a few countries. There is the potential to expand the game further and with games now being played outside of North America, it is starting to happen.
  14. Which market would be more lucrative than the U.K. though ? I would imagine it would create more revenue than any other nation outside of North America (maybe the exception being Japan ) you only have to look at the NFL when played in England. Every time the stadiums are packed out, it would be the same with baseball. I can understand your point of view about the scheduling and time difference and travel. It would be interesting to look at the Yankees and Red Sox form after they returned from London. But in any sport with the potential for a huge audience, money talks and I’m guessing it was worth the Yankees and Red Sox time and effort to play in London. From a marketing perspective think of the extra revenue it could possibly bring for the Blue Jays with regard to merchandise, if you expand the popularity of the game to outside North America and Japan.
  15. I believe there have been 2 games played in England and they are highest attended outside of North America with just under 60,000 for the NYY v Boston RS That must be a bit of a coup to get what I understand to be the biggest game in MLB I really hope the Blue Jays play in England soon.
  16. I spoke to someone whilst in Toronto last month who heard that the Blue Jays may be playing some games in England in 2024 I really hope this is true being English. I think being the only Canadian team in MLB would endear many people to support the Blue Jays. Since I’ve got back home and become hooked on baseball, I’ve found out one of my neighbours is a fan and seen them play. I know of someone else who follows them too and Friday just gone my eldest son went to school wearing his Blue Jays cap and t shirt and a fellow pupil approached him and said he liked the Blue Jays and had seen them play, then best yet his P.E teacher said he had seen them play and supported them and caught a ball at the game which he still has. I’m sure there are some on here who get to hear about whether the Blue Jays would play some matches in England in the future?
  17. What date in May are you coming across the pond? As the footy season finishes in May. My team Sheffield Wednesday weÂ’re doing brilliant and we were a show in for the league 1 title, we have ballsed up and are now looking like going into the dreaded playoffs, which if successful would mean we play at Wembley at the end of May to try to seal promotion to the championship.
  18. Good to see Vladdy shushing the Yankee crowd when he was running around the bases 😄
  19. The pipes, the pipes are calling… Sorry I couldn’t resist.
  20. But in a tight game like this surely any way to get runs is important. s*** as I type this the Yankees have hit a home run 🙁
