    That's pretty rich coming from a guy who's suggested we trade for Erwin Santana and Robbie Ray while Hutch sits in the minors. I'd prefer the Jays actually try to win a world series than dwell in mediocrity hoping to squeak into a wildcard spot.

    As a matter of fact I do realize that Lucroy is a top 5 catcher in baseball.I also realize that that anyone that thinks Lucroy would be backing up Martin,and not the other way around,is a touchdown or is drunk and should go home.I also realize Martin is 33 years old and is under contract for 3 more years after this one.I also realize he could probably benefit from a lightened workload for a season and a half so maybe,just maybe,he isn't a total dumpster fire for the last two years of his contract at 20M per.

    For me the two places that need to be upgraded are a second catcher and a lefty for the pen.There isn't much out there as far as players on expiring contracts at either position so i'd expect to have to overpay at least a bit to acquire anything decent at either position. I'd like to see them take a serious run at Lucroy and Will Smith from the Bucks.Lucroy has a team option for 2017 and Smith has two more years of control after this season so expect to have to empty the cupboards to entertain any thoughts of a deal.Not sure if Pompay,Harris,SRF,Pentacost,and Alford would get it done but i'd give that to land the pair. Plan B would be Chooch from Philly and Boone Logan from the Rockies.Logan is a FA after the season and Chooch has an option for 2017.The prospect capital wouldn't be nearly as steep so i'm not sure this wouldn't be a better strategy for the long run.
