Supposedly Upton gives better defense, but base running and offense they are basically the same.. Upton hits more HR and strikes out more. I guess you have to go with Upton but it certainly feels like it would be better to have a guy who can put the ball in play from time to time. -

This argument could be said about most players in the minors, couldn't it? Pretty wishy-washy thinking.

I didn't say I wouldn't do it, but saying it's completely crazy without thinking it through is a little dim-sighted.

Travis has been on pace for about 6 WAR both last year and this year. Sale might give you 6 WAR on a good year. Given their current contract situations or lack there of... That's $83K per WAR for Travis and $2M per WAR for Sale. I guess the only real difference is Sale is proven and Travis is not, right?
