Thought I had heard that both Cespedes and Chris Davis would be FA this year. With the extra $ that Rogers has earned and what could be earned with full houses every game and the other revenue generated via post season and other retail sales, would not both be nice additions which would cover 1B and the outfield (Cespedes, Pillar and JB whose arm will be fine by Spring).
No guarantee that TD will actually recover as it is troublesome to see an athlete take so long to recover from being struck in the chest by a ball. May be something deeper involved. Keep Goins either way.
With spending on two good players like Cespedes and Davis (no idea of their clubhouse demeanor however) that frees up a number of players for trades or by not signing Price (who knows his demands) and dropping RAD/Thole there are a lot of options available for AA to work with.
Without C the Mets are not in WS. Let Tulo heal and get acclimated more to the AL and he should rebound.
Not sure who might be available as a catcher but DN might be inclined to resign based on what is more important -- $, playing time or maybe another shot at WS depending upon what else is done.
Look back at all the changes made between '92 & '93 and while the first win had a terrific team, the second improved on it and if Rogers can be persuaded (they are businessmen and the profits have spoken which often make the prophets look like geniuses) to open the purse strings there could be an awesome team built from the FA market and some trades of pieces that the team could then part with. No need to just look at what is here and be satisfied.
As many have pointed out, there is a lot of opportunities to get some really fine additional players in this off season and it should be a lot of fun in the next 4 months so Mets take care of business in 4 and let the fun begin.
