    I was resigned to the fact that they would give it to him. But the no trade clause was something I didn't expect. No deferred money, got a no trade clause, and a half bill. Vladdy literally got everything.

    Am I missing something. Vlad wanted 500M present value. Wouldn't a 585/15 yr no deferral deal be something like 500 present value? Because even thought there's no deffered money, money is still in later years still have a lower present value. So couldn't the various ideas floating around (ie Ortiz's numbers) all be in agreement?

    How do deferrals work with opt outs? Say 60 Mil is deffered and he opts out after years one. Would he get 20 deffered? Or could they say 10 of the deffered is tied to year 1 20 to year 2 and 30 to year 3 to incentivize him to stay?

    With the MLB investigation into his positing process about whether he had an under-the-table deal with the Dodgers, the agent probably just had it planned. What team could we reasonably use as a pretend competitor - oh the Jay's, after Ohtani, Soto, etc it'd be totally believable. So they just strung Atkins along the whole time to make it seem believable so they would pass the investigation.
