The return is just meh, it probably hurts more because Happ was basically our top realistic trade piece, so unless a huge unexpected move happens we aren’t going to walk away from this deadline with any sexy new pieces. Jays have had horrible luck with injuries and Osuna’s debacle.

    What are these reasonable grounds to suspect he will be a 2-3 WAR player? His projections are replacement level, his MLB actual thus far are below replacement level. I think at best he’s a cheap replacement level infielder. Which is fine, but not sexy when we seem to have a glut of them already and they seem fairly easily obtainable via free agency or trades. I just wanted a bit more promise that can compliment the young studs coming in a couple of years. That said I hope Drury turns into an absolute monster, helps the Jays win a World Series and I get made fun of doubting him for years to come.

    Maybe Solarte now? Hopefully a couple of the other relievers. Jays don’t have much else they can trade that will return more than Happ just did unless they trade stroman or maybe osuna?

    He wasn’t a high draft pick or overly promising prospect ever. Him being AAAA fodder isn’t labeling him a bust. He is pretty much living up to his expectations, which aren’t high.
