  1. Great pick-up. And at this point can out-perform Ichiro on any given Sunday.
  2. I never even thought of this. This is why I read this board... so much insight.
  3. His attitude is a cover for his shame and anxiety. He uses derogatory remarks to try and boost his self-esteem (to no avail). By demeaning others he feels empowered, if only temporarily. Most likely he was treated similar by his peers or family at a younger age and now he needs to lash out at others. I also suspect an all-around incompetence in his "real life". That should answer your question, rhetorical or not.
  4. If by 'early English monarchy' you mean totally gay, then yes, agree completely.
  5. Looks for sure like he's wearing a wig in the first pic... you just want to shave that s*** off so he doesn't look like such a loafer
  6. Failed hitter turned pitcher. I especially like how Tex rushed him to the majors, boy were they desperate last season . . . . . . . . . . . . Can I go back to sleep now?
  7. I'm not sure about this data... it's giving negative and positive values for horizontal movements. Therefore it's measuring both left and right movement... if a pitcher is throwing pitches with both left and right movement wouldn't the data cancel itself out and you'd end up with a lesser #? Am I missing something?
  8. lol.. maybe he's a genius... batting Reyes 9th gives him roughly 10% less chances to break his pinky finger or stub his toe GENIUS
  9. Agree completely, their line-up could be anything, they probably have the highest uncertainty in their line-up for all the reasons already mentioned.
  10. For a guy who is relaxed you seem really bent out of shape about some general baseball discussion. Which is all I was doing. No need to get offended.
  11. You relax. I was paraphrasing Billy Beane from Moneball, I guess you didn't catch that. By 'not a fangraphs web dream' I think you mean he's not actually a good player any more, right? Because he's not. To be perfectly honest I think you are a little star struck and ignoring the larger picture; which is to establish the highest performing baseball team possible. Yes he is (was) the great Ichiro Suzuki, but the last thing we need on this team is another aging Frank Thomas or Omar Vizquel with glorified expectations of grandeur. There is no real evidence of a budget squeeze now either, by all accounts AA has flexibility with payroll, obviously he still has to justify any move... for example we've seen major leaps in payroll in signing Martin. Personally I'd like to get Aoki or make a trade for someone who is not a scrub and can at least be a solid player.
  12. What the f*** are you talking about man? The ability to 'slap singles' or have 'adequate speed' (both of which are questionable at this point in his career) has no merit over actual combined offensive and defensive performance/output - the only thing that really matters. And it's not good, it's sub-par, scrub level. We do not want Ichiro Suzuki. There are a hundred better players. Whether we can get him 'cheap' is a moot point unless we are aware of a budget, but we're not. I especially like how people are thanking you for your senseless post. Lends more credibility to the board.
  13. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3b/Paris_Tuileries_Garden_Facepalm_statue.jpg
  14. There are two people in this world: 1) Those who believe in clutch abilities 2) And those who have big salivating pussies like Mike Wilner.
  15. Career wRC+ w/ based empty: 90 Career wRC+ w/ RISP: 80 However... Last 3 seasons: wRC+ w/ bases empty: 58, 140, 89, respectively wRC+ w/ RISP: 113, 163, 143, respectively So you could infact put sarcasm aside and make a statement that Navarro has been clutch lately.
  16. You, do, not, need, a comma there, unless, you, are, Captain Kirk.
  17. Why are people OK with Suzuki? He's basically performing at scrub level and he's only getting older. He should have just retired in 2013 on a somewhat decent note as a Yank... I presume he just wants to get to 3K hits...
  18. I also kinda like that he was a former Blue Jay...
  19. Meh... at least he's somewhat entertaining in his idiocy and stubbornness
  20. Reddick is not a big name player. lol.
