Serious question: Why does Pillar approach hitting the way he does? It doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, we all know that Thole is a crap hitter, but any contribution he does make offensively is because he's not a moron. He appears to understand his limitations, and while he is lacking in talent, he usually puts forth his best effort to get on base however he can. With Pillar, any offensive contribution he makes is because he happens to make contact with his flailing swing. I just don't get why he continues to use this approach. It defies reason.
