It was a horrendous joke and I immediately regretted it.
Basically, because some Gold Glover winners in the past should not have been awarded by the backward media (now it's voted by managers/coaches). You know the old joke about a Gold Glove winner being awarded by offense rather than defense (In fact one pitcher whose name escapes me, reacted to getting the GG by saying, Really, I'm not even a good fielder). In any case, the joke was because Gold Glovers were sometimes bad defensive players, that they as scorekeepers would be more prone to award that a hit rather than an error.
Yeah.... so a really bad joke.
