I wasn't 100% disagreeing with you, but a complete firesale like you're suggesting would be horrible. As if it's not hard enough luring free agents to Toronto, the team will literally gain the rep of Miami if they sell now, which is why this situation they're in sucks. Business is a thing ya know...

You act like it's an easy decision to forfeit the year while only 4 games back. Dealing Melky and Rasmus for prospects would send an awful signal to the clubhouse, regardless of whether you think they are useful or not. We are probably in the worst situation possible right now... Hanging around, so we can't sell, but in a desperate spot where GM's will rip AA off.

Melky was close to being an all-star. In his mind, I bet he's worth at least 2 or 3 guaranteed years.

I'd give a QO to Melky. He'll at least land a 2 or 3 year deal somewhere. Rasmus would accept it though, so I just wouldn't even bother and just let him walk.
