  1. I admit, I was hoping for a more scathing initial reply from Nox.
  2. I choose to remember Jesse Carlson as a top 5 alpha in our bullpen, all time. http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=6668859&c_id=mlb
  3. Yeah man, that's all MTG. That's where collectible shops make all their money.
  4. Some of the cards in the Alpha set are worth hundreds, and a few are worth thousands. Wish I'd been collecting in the early 90s. Also, I find the game now a lot more fun than it used to be. The cards work together better and most everything is costed properly. Pay 10 bucks and buy Magic 2014 on Steam if you wanna get back into it, you get a free mini booster and a foil alternate art rare (and it's a pretty awesome card.)
  5. Seems quite possible, even likely. JPA is a pretty big ignoramus, though, so it's far from a sure thing. Also, wtf is up with bolding that whole post?
  6. Because Hayhurst is such a stirrer of the pot that he'd directly refer to JPA as a "dumb, brutish animal" right? Especially after taking the high road this whole time and making this whole article about the defense of JP. Use some common sense.
  7. No, it was just a general analysis on human behaviour...dunno what you're reading. If anything, he'd be referring to JPA and other pro athletes as Socrates.
  8. How can you say that when he hasn't thrown a single pitch?
  9. You completely misread that. This was more of a JPA defense piece, which is pretty lame of Hayhurst to write imo.
  10. He also may retire after this season.
  11. Greg Maddux? Tom Glavine? Andruw Jones?
  12. I can't imagine how lackluster your life must be if you are trolling an internet message board for entertainment.
  13. Because the possibility of a double play is no longer present if you reach via a hit rather than a walk? This thread is so stupid. I've tried to avoid saying things like "ban this guy" or "lock this thread" but jesus f***, all this thread needs now is DJBluRay agreeing with the op and then jerking off to Manny Machado and his low walk totals.
  14. We were duped. AA really fluked into those deals, IMO, seeing how he's surrounded himself with the same idiots for his entire tenure. Really, you'd think a smart person in his position would learn from this and think that maybe he should rely on a bit more than a subjective scouting grade on a big league ball player, but I really doubt he will change his operation. Keep wasting time and resources sending scouts to watch established players. Good job Alex!
  15. BTT nailing it tonight.
  16. I guess, but you could have always gone by posters that people actually like to read.
  17. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, (relief) ace.
  18. Some of these choices are just lulzy.
  19. You must be the easiest person to troll, ever.
  20. You've made some great posts tonight.
  21. The Phillies GM is an idiot and easily the worst in baseball. Nothing he does or says should be used as a barometer for anything. He has said he doesn't care about walks or OBP, just guys that can drive in runs. Tell me, how many runs can you drive in when no one is on base in front of you?
  22. Can we report someone for being offensively stupid?
  23. This all brings me back to listening to PTS on the way home from work during the Farrell saga and hearing those clowns clamoring for Joe Torre. Obviously they never saw the end of his managing career where he was making awful decision after awful decision in LA, or how he never had a season of more than 90 wins prior to 1996 (first year with the Yankees.) Terry Francona is another guy people were clamoring for, and he lost 90 games twice in four seasons with Philly, and never had a winning record. He was out of managing from 2001-2003, then becomes a sensation when he's in charge of a very good team. Bunch of nonsense. I like Gibbons because I feel he doesn't take s***, he's laid back and doesn't panic, manages bullpens and platoons players properly, and isn't a big fan of the bunt. I fail to see how any of this is on him. He's not playing the games.
  24. '06 and '08 were playoff teams in any other division.
