  1. New York turned it around because all their vulnerable people died.... Florida is also performing more tests than anyone else. The death rate has not substantially risen. The healthcare system is not being overwhelmed. Things can change, of course, but it doesn't really seem like the disaster everyone says it is.
  2. Maybe it's too late, but couldn't they work out something with another team to "share" a stadium? Like Baltimore or NY?
  3. Being Canadian is so embarrassing sometimes. First of all, the triggering over an opinion, and not really a crazy one (though I hate it). Second, the people saying it's an opportunity to explore places to move a Florida team. Time out, how are you going to argue Toronto's market size and then suggest moving a team with a larger market?
  4. Any evidence to back that up? Also, last I checked, New York has had around 10x the deaths of Florida with a roughly equal population...and I'd imagine there are a lot more old people in Florida as well. My point is, I tire of this "Canada > US" crap. Andrew Cuomo has an 80% favorability rating after killing all the grandmas in his state. Something tells me these are not the rednecks you're looking for. Also, masks are not a panacea. In fact, they are of minimal help. Any help is good, obviously, but it's not like the difference in caseload can be attributed to whether or not the people wear masks.
  5. Harsh. I thought it was at least a C+
  6. How is this not about baseball? Unfortunately, the virus permeates everything we do.
  7. Spanky doesn't understand modern cultural references. He fell on his head as a child after a tragic encounter with a bike and picnic table. That's actually the origin of the insult "bike" for him. He's always felt like the bike f***ed him over and thus he uses that word to label people he feels have wronged him.
  8. The US hot spots also have a ton more people in a much smaller area. You're not seeing places like Idaho, Iowa, Wyoming, Vermont, etc. blowing up because the population density is much lower than Florida, New York or California. Canada is similar, in a sense. More space for about a tenth of the people.
  9. Didn't you start a completely erroneous thread about baseball being back like 3 months ago?
  10. I will, thanks. I also don't base my opinion on anything other than science. What I see is governments ignoring science for political expedience.
  11. I'm not the only one throwing around insults. Besides, I think this is fairly productive, and the discussion is around baseball. Besides, BTS doesn't go for the banhammer first anymore. He will either PM me to stop, or post in here asking us to stop while deleting over the line posts. Hurl, I suspect, wouldn't do anything because I don't really think this has gone beyond a heated argument. We are calling each other stupid strictly in response to things said in this thread and it hasn't extended into personal attacks.
  12. Another swing and a miss. You are like the Joey Gallo of this board.
  13. It spreads more easily. I abide by my local bylaws. I wear a mask indoors. I don't want to contract the virus. If I am asked to wear a face covering when I go shopping, it is a small thing to ask. It is not the flu, thank you for demonstrating your lack of critical thinking once again. Your brain has a set of narratives locked away that can be used to dismiss any contradictory opinion, this is fairly common for people who let other people think for them. This is how pitchfork mobs worked back in the day. If the aldorman says this woman is a witch, by golly he must be correct. I bring up comparisons to the flu in terms of death rates ONLY and like a jukebox, your brain cues up "O ur 1 uv thos its da flu gais lol". It's a pre programmed response that someone has drilled in your mind.
  14. I am allergic to idiots who just take the accepted narrative with zero critical thought. I especially love when they point at epidemiologists who have been wrong about almost everything. I don't blame them for that, but it also means that they really don't know much more than everyone else.
  15. It's called common sense, something you clearly lack. How correct have epidemiologists been, anyway? First they said don't wear masks, now it's wear masks all the time, they still don't know whether the virus spreads via droplets or if it's aerosolized, they don't know how many strains there are, they don't know whether or not kids can pass it to adults. The only things they do seem to know are: virus hits harder as you age and if you have underlying conditions. Up until your late 20s, the flu is more deadly. For kids, the flu is three times more deadly. Try to compute that
  16. Thank you for giving me permission to use an internet message board for the very thing it was designed for. If you need any upgrades for your bomb shelter, I know a guy so hit me up.
  17. Yeah, seeing some of the people in this thread, you might be right. Some of them seem to think half the world will die. I hope they are this fervent during flu season. Oh wait, they aren't being told that the world is ending in that case so they just ignore it. A poster on here recently claimed the death rate was 10 percent, so who knows what these people believe. Players are testing positive and absolutely no one is concerned that they are going to die, which is weird for a "deadly virus".
  18. First off, production quality. Second of all, player facilities. Third of all, makes the team feel like it's actually based here like every other team playing in their home park. Small chance? Try no chance.
  19. Would if I could, but I don't hate it here. Didn't imply that anyway. What I did imply is that people, like little guppies, have thrown nuance and common sense out the window. If you honestly think that a baseball team who are regularly tested and isolated, are an actual threat to public health, perhaps consider whether or not you are an abject moron, and perhaps come to the conclusion that yes, yes you are.
  20. That is a literary device called "sarcasm". I am actually out and about daily giving the virus to everyone I can.
  21. You are wrong. There will be a point where people decide that living this way is not worth it. I'm not sure why the federal government gets to override the provincial government on a matter of public health, anyway.
  22. Oh yes, public health is in such danger from 50 guys traveling and staying together while being tested multiple times daily. I for one will never emerge from my shelter. I like canned beans anyway.
  23. Because the players are being constantly tested and closely monitored? This isn't the black plague.

Ok. A suspect stole what is classified in Georgia as a deadly weapon, overpowered police, used this weapon on one of them and fired it at another one while running and while being told to stop under the threat of being shot. This advice was disregarded with a predictable result. Case closed, justified under law. The officer's indictment will be laughed out of court and the city will be successfully sued for wrongful termination. Not a single police officer thinks it wasn't justified use of force. I'm sorry the world doesn't work the way you want it to.
  25. Surreee I'm also questioning why anyone would actively advertise that they are a Browns fan
