    Yeah, they did a good job staving off the Orioles and Tigers. Because I know this board would be hypocritically whining if the Mariners or something made it instead. This is a broader point about teams that shouldn't be in the playoffs (like the Jays) making the playoffs. If this is the norm every year, it sucks.

    I do not understand why the Dolphins were slight underdogs in this game. I regret taking the spread instead of the moneyline, I'm a pussy. Oh well. Gardner Minshew kinda reminds me of Josh Allen last year, minus the athleticism, ability to make huge plays with his legs, roll out of the pocket, break tackles or throw the occasional bomb.

    The small sample in 2020 has him decidedly above replacement level. The MVP this year will have like 3 WAR. That's a weak point to make.

    Maple is barely heavier than Ash, but also harder. The main reason that Maple is used by the vast majority of hitters is that it absorbs less energy than ash or birch bats. This makes hitting the ball off the barrel (meaning towards the end or hands) much more painful, but since there is very little give with maple, almost all of the energy in a swing, plus the energy of the pitch coming in, is transferred to the ball in an ideal situation vs. ash which is softer and will absorb some of that energy. Aka, in theory, the same swing, same barrel, same pitch off a maple bat will have a higher EV compared to an ash bat.
