I wouldn’t say Vlad has a “great eye”. It’s better than his dad’s, but it’s not like he’s Juan Soto. Vlad just has very good bat to ball skills.

Just because he was out, doesn’t mean it was a bad decision. He’s the second fastest player on the team, and it took a throw right on the money to get him. Would have been runners on second and third with one out, if he was safe.

Moreno is a lot more athletic than Kirk. Also, there are concerns about Kirk’s long term durability, for obvious reasons.

They’re also going to be implementing a more balanced schedule soon, aren’t they? So we won’t have one good central team getting one of the top two spots simply because they got to beat up on four crappy teams.

There are going to be a lot of confused people when they first see Kirk at the all star game.

He’s simply having timing issues.

You’re making the assumption that every pitch is equal and guys are just swinging as hard as they can at all of them.

For what it’s worth, Kirk has been a much better defender than Jansen so far this year. Kirk is in the 90th percentile for framing, while Jansen is way down in the first percentile. And Jansen has never been particularly good at throwing out runners. I think Moreno will be a better defender than both of them. He’s much more athletic than either guy. I’m not sure. I don’t think that will happen unless: 1) someone gets hurt 2) someone gets traded 3) the minor league season is over.

Moreno continues to throw out baserunners. Has thrown out 15 of 28 now.

Literally, every other time Charlie would take him out then and get criticized for taking him out too soon.

They have Leury Garcia and his .197 OBP and 29 wRC+ leading off.

Orelvis isn’t exactly alone in having strikeout issues this year, either. It seems like a lot of prospects have high strikeout rates.

Moreno has thrown out 13 of 26 base runners this year.

He left the game mid at bat. Someone else had to finish the AB.

Probably to keep Kirk’s bat in the lineup in case we need it later.

All the kids get playing time, because Charlie wants to keep all the parents happy.
