No, he's not. But, even at his best, he doesn't play a flashy, star-like game. If he was more in line with the type of player that JD and JB are, you can bet they would exploit the crap out of his being Canadian.
Yeah, if they did get the save, you'd have closers intentionally putting themselves into these situations in order get more saves, and more money. Lol!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that inning was a good example of the value of Ks over contact. 2nd and 3rd, nobody out. Pretty much any contact with score at least 1 more run. Ks, however... well, you see the result.
If Stroman pitched 8 or 9 innings every start with lots of ground ball outs, and only a few Ks, I don't think anyone would complain. However, while I'm certainly no stats expert, it's pretty obvious that isn't the point.
