  1. Yep. Exactly what I was going to say.
  2. What an entertaining game. Liked how Gibbons got the most out of Buerhle after the grand slam, Jays bullpen in much better shape for tomorrow. Casey Janssen - 21 in a row retired, 3 hits allowed and 0 walks all season.
  3. His power is awesome, great mistake crusher, below average at everything else, but he hits enough home runs to have value. John Buck 2.0? 1.1?
  4. Agree with above posters, need Thole here now, Blanco isn't a major league caliber catcher anymore and JPA has great power but his defensive issues are pretty well established at this point, Thole should be a nice medium.
  5. He's had 2 no hitters (vs. Tex and TB)
  6. In any case, since this is the positivity thread, this team is not that bad. When the moves happened, with Dickey inked for 3 years, Reyes for a while, Bautista/Encarnacion/Morrow extended, there was talk of this not being built for one season but for the next 3 or 4. I still believe Dickey/Morrow/JJohnson are good pitchers, they all have track records that they aren't going to magically regress to crappiness. I like Happ and his extension as a #4/#5 guy. I have real concerns about either Buerhle or Romero being good pitchers in the AL East but hopefully there is hope for Drabek/Hutch/Sanchez, if we're talking 3 year window. Offensively, Bau, Edwin, Reyes will all still be somewhere between above average players and superstars. Lawrie will be when you factor in his defense. Arencibia and Rasmus will be above replacement level, as they have been their whole careers. JPA with his power, Rasmus with his glove. Gose can fill an OF spot, Melky may be finding his swing, DH is easy to fill, 2B will likely continue to be a wasteland until they bring in Chutley. TL:DR - Team not that bad, will be fine, will be above .500 this year and hope for coming years without major changes.
  7. They need to win tonight. Every time they have a big win like this, they crap the bed next time out, if they could string off a couple, especially against Tampa, I think they can get back to respectability, if not the playoffs.
  8. The Rays have been no-hit at an alarming regular rate over the past few seasons.
  9. I love both of his books. As an analyst, I think he often makes good points but also tries to make big declarations to bring attention to himself, then when he's called out on it says he's just playing the commentary game, which is fine, but makes it question whether some of the things he's saying are genuine or whether he's trolling, trying to get a rise out of the rabid Jays fans. He's only been at it for a short time, so hopefully he balances himself out and doesn't become the Blue Jays version of Morosi.
  10. Price has been bad to start the year and it's a different Jays team vs. a different Rays team, so the past should have no impact on it but for some reason the Jays always seem to struggle vs. Tampa. Given the way this season has started, I'm hoping for a split, anything else is a bonus, anything less is another disappointment.
