  1. The 2026 MLB season is right around the corner, and we're looking to expand our video coverage. Have you ever considered being on-camera and talking about the Blue Jays? If yes, we'd love to talk to you about it. Our videos are typically in a wide variety of styles: breaking news, analysis, and historical study. We're open to any and all ideas as long as they're centered around the Toronto Blue Jays. We're looking for serious baseball talk, so leave the hot takes at home. If you'd like to learn more about this cool little side gig, please email Brock Beauchamp at brock.beauchamp@jayscentre.com. Here is an example of a recent Blue Jays video from us: View full rumor
  2. One thing that cracks me up about ads is how they're so often "post-purchase". I get how and why it needs to be that way, but it's always funny when you're like "cool, thanks for showing me a bunch of ads for that PlayStation game I purchased three days ago, I'm definitely considering buying a second copy".
  3. You guys have been very helpful in this thread, and I thank you for that. We've talked to our ad provider and reduced ads by close to 20%. Hopefully, this will make the site more palatable to use with advertisements enabled.
  4. Yeah, it's going to be mostly a desktop issue because it's a lot harder to run blockers on mobile. But mobile ad rates are also lower than desktop, so it's kind of a double effect.
  5. Impressions are just ads appearing on your screen, no interaction needed.
  6. Hah, we actually don't see a huge bump in the postseason. It's kinda weird, right? But we don't. I think there's so much national-level attention that the smaller sites are drowned out in October. But that's okay, we want to deliver a consistent product all year long; we really shine during the draft, at the trade deadline, that sort of thing.
  7. We're planning to change our subscription model a lot, hoping that will encourage more participation. But, again, we're not super-worried about it at this point. Mostly, right now I'm just wondering WHY it's happening.
  8. Not really, mods have 100% license to ban any opposing fans the moment they cause trouble. It’s why we try to keep each site siloed; this is a place for Jays fans to be biased about their team without outside nonsense.
  9. Good ad providers aren’t pay per click anymore. We get paid for impressions, not clicks.
  10. I work in tech. The phrase you're looking for is "in volume". Volume fixes everything.
  11. It is, for sure. And we expected that. But we're seeing 10% of our US rates, which is so much lower than is reasonable.
  12. Ah, thank you. I added a third option, this hadn't crossed my mind.
  13. This is our first site that is primarily used by Canadians. We went in with eyes wide open, but the numbers are below even our modest expectations (in revenue per user, not overall users, that number is good). Are a bunch of you using ad blockers? I'm not here to convince you to stop or anything, I'd just really like to narrow down possible reasons for this site being so far underwater compared to all our other sites. Before I go chasing my tail, I'd like to check one possible reason off my list. And don't fret or anything, this site is going nowhere, even if it keeps losing money. We're not the kind of organization that just shutters something if it struggles a little bit. Thank you for your honesty in this poll! And really, I'm not going to be upset if people answer yes. In a way, it's actually reassuring if this is the answer to my woes.
  14. Owen and Jesse jump on the mic to reevaluate the Blue Jays' position in a strong American League East after missing out on star hitters Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette. They talk about how the misses decontextualize Kazuma Okamoto's importance to the team, and consider Cody Bellinger and Framber Valdez as options to continue improving the team. The guys also pour some cold water on the growing calls for a salary cap in MLB, and share some of their favourite Bo Bichette moments from his time as a Blue Jay. 16. I am, mostly. Kind of? I'm less of a Twins fan by the day, and becoming more of a general baseball fan. Being immersed in many team forums over the past few years has changed how I approach the sport a lot. I might be a bigger Brewers fan than Twins fan at this point.
  17. Woof. No thanks. Pursuing Tucker is fine and all, but I really don't want him for a decade. I think his bat probably ages just fine, but he's not working with the strongest defensive toolset, and probably won't age that well overall.
  18. Owen and Jesse start the show by breaking down the latest in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes, including the Mets' reported offer of $50 million AAV, and the guys debate the pros and cons of different contract structures for Tucker. The guys take a look around the league and break down the Red Sox' reported deal with Ranger Suárez and the Cubs' deal with Alex Bregman, before digging into the Blue Jays, who will be playing in the World Baseball Classic, including Ernie Clement, Kazuma Okamoto, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The second half of the episode is spent recapping the offseason acquisitions of Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, Tyler Rogers, and Okamoto, analyzing ZIPS projections, and setting up the current roster for when pitchers and catchers report on February 11th. 21. Owen and Jesse break down the Blue Jays' signing of Japanese star Kazuma Okamoto. They dig into why he’s going to help the Jays in the near term, and how it shifts the roles of other players like Addison Barger and Anthony Santander. The guys also talk about how his signing impacts the Blue Jays’ pursuits of other free agents like Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette.
